DPMS Gen 1 Compatibility Explained
Unlike the AR-15, there is no single "Mil-Spec" for the large-frame AR. The market is split between Armalite (slant cut) and DPMS (curved cut). Tactical Machining parts are exclusively DPMS Gen 1 compatible. This ensures you have the widest selection of aftermarket barrels, handguards, and bolts available to you.
High Profile vs. Low Profile Uppers
When selecting a handguard for your .308 build, "rail height" is critical. Our uppers typically follow the DPMS High Profile standard (.210" tang height). Always check your handguard rail height to ensure a seamless top rail for your optics.
Why Billet 6061 for Large Frames?
For .308 receivers, we prefer 6061-T6 Billet Aluminum. It offers excellent rigidity for heavy barrels while providing a superior finish that resists the elements better than standard forgings.
